Dana W. Atchley III, called himself "a first generation video buccaneer and traveling image collector." Dana and I were fellow art students at Dartmouth and kept in close touch over the years. During the 70s and 80s, Dana logged hundreds of thousands of miles zig-zagging across America in a series of ever-larger equipment-packed minivans and busses, recording outrageous images and playing them back for far-flung audiences in a remarkable mixed-media presentation called "The Space Show." Back then, he billed himself as The Amazing X or The Ace of Space and performed in a silver lamé spacesuit. In the 90s, under his own identity, he created one of the first interactive stage presentations with "Next Exit." Sadly, Dana died on December 13, 2000, but his vision and work live on at: www.nextexit.com
