Alan Lee at Duke Street. Alan was the co-author (with Brian Froud) of Faeries, a book which
greatly influenced the first draft of Legend. Alan was hired to create conceptual paintings for
the film and for a few glorious months in 1982 we shared adjoining garret rooms. Whenever the
writing went slowly, I would recharge my batteries by stepping next door to see what wonderful
magic Alan was conjuring up with paint and ink.
